Troy (@top5troy): Your Mac Miller “Faces” inspired painting titled “Happy Birthday” engaged a lot of people when I shared it on the @TOP5RAPWEBSITE Twitter. It’s now been RT’d over 1.5k times! How does that feel? Have you ever had your art celebrated on such a large scale?

Tiffany (@bunnievision_): It’s actually crazy to look at the analytics and see how many people saw my painting. To know that my art and the ideas that go on in my head resonate with this many people is a really nice feeling. Earlier this year there was an image I took of Gunna at Rolling Loud Miami that was reposted by YSL Records and a few of my favorite artists. Although a ton of people saw that, this felt different because I received a lot more feedback on my painting.

Did you kinda just randomly wake up to all the admiration for your piece? Or were you watching the appreciation gradually build up after you posted it?

I went to sleep and I believe it had 100 favorites or so. When I woke up and saw that it had 300, I was amazed! I came back later that day to see it was in the thousands! After that…it was insane to see how it built up in my notifications!

What inspired that artwork? Obviously Mac Miller’s “Faces” mixtape, but what inspired you to put those images over that English-looking artwork specifically?

When I bought the underpainting from an antique shop, I felt that the color palette and the narrative created by the scene was a perfect match to the aesthetic of the cover art. I felt that, this painting embedded with the Faces elements, conveyed a similar energy to the perceptions outlined in the lyrics of the song “Happy Birthday” and that is why the piece is titled “Happy Birthday.”

What is your art medium of choice? Paint? Pencil? Imaging? What was used to complete the “Happy Birthday” artwork?

I am an oil painter. The underpainting from the “Happy Birthday” artwork was an object I found from an antique shop that is ink-printed on canvas. I oil painted on top of that.

I also shoot and develop a lot of film, so I would say oil paint and photography are my favorite mediums. Beyond that, I also create digital artwork on my iPad and sketch in pencil.

I find artists’ creative processes so mesmerizing…and it’s so interesting how artists are often multi-talented across the arts. So, what initially “drew” you into art (no pun)? When did you realize you had a talent?

To be real, it was around 2014 when Faces (mixtape) came out that I realized how much I appreciate art and how cool it is to create. Back then, I was always watching movies and listening to music to soak up game, all to create the taste in art I have today. I would say that this year is the first time I have felt truly confident in the work I am creating.

Mac Miller seems to be one of the artists who bore heavy impact on his listeners. Kind of like a Kid CuDi, where fans have this uniting bond of having been permanently impacted by his music. It’s almost more than a fandom. There’s this deep, underlying understanding and respect between listener and artist. It felt that way when he was with us too.

Faces by Mac Miller is a trip for me. I have memories of a lot of emotionally intimate moments with friends, lovers, and even myself accompanied by the sounds of this album. I grew up on Mac Miller’s music so listening to his music is very nostalgic for me. My best friend and I went to a concert in Phoenix and he sang “Objects in the Mirror” acapella and it really was a beautiful moment.

Phoenix?…are you based in Phoenix?

I study art at the University of Arizona!

What’s your major?

My major is Studio Art with an emphasis is 2D Art.

When I paint, I like to focus on form and creating a believable volume. And when I say creating “believable volume”, I mean being able to make something look 3D on 2D material. This is something I focused a lot in my “Happy Birthday” piece. My goal was to capture depth and form.

All this nerdy art talk is good for my soul! That’s awesome to have such a specific lane dialed-in already. Did your parents do art?

My parents don’t do art, however, my older sister Jenny put me on to Anime at a young age and she would always draw in that style. She was one of the first people to introduce me to art.

Anime seems to be a gateway genre for many of our generations dopest artists! Rappers like Childish Gambino and Megan Thee Stallion also bare Anime influences!

I would also say I am pretty nice with a camera! And I also love to make music, although I only have a bunch of demos right now. And I love to cook as well!

God bless a woman who loves to cook and feed! But you said you make music? Haha no way!? Do you Rap or sing?

Yeah! I love making music! I’m still formulating a sound, but I can easily transition from singing some soul to rapping on some Bay Area energy haha!

YEE! We’ll have to get you on top5rapwebsite.com as a rapper next time! Any projects you’re working on or links that you want to leave behind for the people? How can they contact you?

I am creating an entire series of paintings that share a similar aesthetic to “Happy Birthday” (the name of her Faces inspired painting), so follow me on Instagram @bunnievision or on Twitter @bunnievision_ to see those! I’m also selling prints of my paintings and stickers on my website bunnievision.co
