I‘m unsure if Doja Cat’s “My twins big like Tia Tamera” hook lyric is a shot at the Sister Sister starss height (Google says they’re only 5’5″), weight (they’re not obese), or referencing her fame (this makes the most sense). But whether or not it’s flattery or an insult, Doja shines over this distorted trap banger. The hook is addicting, and her charisma carries her through some fun punchlines.
“I’m hot like grits, Madea/
Beat the pussy up call PETA, I rock the boat like Aaliyah (AY)/
I rock a bob like Sia (AY), Doja on deck, bitch, RE-UP (OKAY)/
Thick in thigh, thick in the waist/
Thick in the right mufuckin’ places/
Hits like Venus, Serena (AY)/
He wanna eat up the caesar (AY!)/”
Rico’s energy matches the track perfectly, and she mimics the flow Doja deploys on the first verse. I prefer Doja’s verse to Rico’s, but both add value to the song and Rico was the perfect feature for this single.
★★★1/2: I’ve long been an admirer of Doja Cat’s musical versatility. Her studio debut “Amala” is available on streaming platforms and features some of my favorite songs of hers such as: “Wine Pon You ft Konshens“, “Morning Light“, and “Candy“.
