It wasn’t long ago when I was put onto the duo Charizma & Peanut Butter Wolf by a friend of mine. I was looking for underground D.I.Y rap and when I was recommended this group (whom I had never heard of prior to that moment) I was skeptical. What followed was me listening to their early-90s recorded project Big Shots for almost three hours straight. The late Charizma wass exactly what you wanted out of an MC: confident, clever, and well…charismatic. Producer Peanut Butter Wolf was no slacker either, flipping samples and cutting records with the utmost precision. If you throw around the term “Real Hip-Hop” then this fits the bid to a “T”. If you want good music, then I highly recommend this even if you’re not a fan of Hip-Hop as a whole. Charizma & Peanut Butter Wolf capture the essence of what a rap group is supposed to be and what is possible when you have an MC and a producer with great chemistry.
